My Stratascapes begin with my color notes- watercolor sketches which document how colors organize themselves around me. These colors take precedence in my mind as they connect themselves with emotions and memories. The compositions of the Stratascapes are inspired by photographs I have taken of aging architecture and nature. In creating these works, I enjoy the strategic guidance of the paint, the additions and subtractions, and the new discoveries grown out of subtle layering. They challenge me, and cause me to remember the landscapes and environments I have experienced at home and abroad- filled with new discoveries.
